"If music be the food of love, play on...."

Why should I hire Central Minnesota DJ Company?   When you book your event with our company,  we guarantee that we will show up for your event.  You will not get a DJ who  comes, play some music and then goes home.  We are experienced and professional entertainers who takes as much pride in the quality and success of your event as you do.  We will help you to plan your event from beginning to end, addressing each detail, and will work to create the perfect atmosphere for your event.    When you contact us for your event, we will reply promptly and efficiently.  We do not send auto reply emails; you will always be contacted by one of our friendly, personable representatives.   You will also notice that we make ourselves available to you when you have questions, thoughts, or ideas.   We are easy to get a hold of and are just a phone call, email, or visit away.  We give every customer close and detailed attention - just what they deserve.  We strive for nothing less than excellence!

What is your level of professionalism?  We handle ourselves in a professional manner at ALL TIMES and in every aspect; before, during, and after the show.  As an entertainer, we are there to host the party and put the important people in the spotlight, we are not there to be the star of the show.  We LISTEN to our clients and work with them to resolve any issues quickly and professionally.  We DO NOT:  hit on guests, dance with guests (unless teaching a dance), use profanity, insult guests, embarrass clients or guests, play inappropriate music, act rude toward guests, or give less than 100% at every performance.

What type of attire will your DJ be wearing at our event?  This sounds like a no-brainer, but you don't want your DJ showing up in blue jeans and a t-shirt.  Jeans and a T-shirt may be appropriate for a pool party, but certainly not a wedding reception!  We wear tuxedos to each and every event (unless requested otherwise, of course).  We represent professionalism - which is important to both our clients and to us.

Why shouldn't I just hire the least expensive DJ I can find?  Do not risk hiring an inexperienced DJ just to save a few dollars.  Probably the worst way to choose a DJ is on price alone.  With prices starting as low as $150 for the night, it's tempting to choose the cheapest one available. However, when considering the pricing of one DJ to another, it's important to make sure that you are comparing apples to apples. Are you really getting the same service? How much experience does the DJ have?  Will he act as the master of ceremonies or just play music?  Will he help coordinate the event?  How much does he charge for overtime? How much equipment will he bring?  Does he provide his own music?  The list goes on and on.  Central MN DJ Co. can calmly deal with the nervous family member, or a crowd that just won't dance, while keeping the event enjoyable. Make sure the DJ you hire will be experienced at YOUR type of event. A DJ whose resume accentuates night club and karaoke experience may not be best suited for the professional atmosphere that is necessary for weddings.  No amount of music and lights can make up for an inexperienced disc jockey.   Our people love what they do, and it shows – their enthusiasm is contagious.

How does your price compare to other DJ companies?  To us, the most important consideration is “VALUE.” Although there are definitely some other excellent DJs out there, comparing us to many of our competitors is like comparing apples to oranges; we’re not the same. Most DJ services are primarily focused on making sales and booking shows, regardless of the quality of the events that they can actually produce.   We don’t book an event if we don’t think we’ll be able to stand behind it. We never lie to our clients or mislead them just to improve our bottom line. We think that the most important differences are experience, customer service and quality. We believe that the service we provide—experienced entertainers, high-quality equipment, and huge music variety—is an excellent value for you and your guests, and it’s worth every penny that you pay for it.  Our Rates

What are some ways you differentiate your company from other DJ companies?  When you are in the market for a good DJ, it can be confusing and exhausting.  All of our options are upfront and honest.  You will notice that we do not talk negatively about other companies or say that what we are the best or have been in the business the longest with the most experience.  These claims are impossible to measure.   We are experienced and professional entertainers who takes as much pride in the quality and success of your event as you do.  We will help you to plan your event from beginning to end, addressing each detail, and will work hard to create the perfect atmosphere for your event.  We strive for nothing less than excellence!   If you have any requests, traditional or non, we will put in 110% to meet your needs!

What kinds of music do you bring? We play everything including Polka/Waltz, Big Band/Crooners,  Oldies (from the 50s, 60s, and 70s), Motown, Disco/Funk, Classic Rock, Country, plus hits from the 80s and 90s. We’ll also arrive with the latest mainstream pop and dance music because we constantly update our music library to stay on top of new music.  Your best choice is an experienced DJ who knows how to read the crowd and keep the flow going on the dance floor.  We provide that.

Will you play requests?  We welcome you to choose as many songs to play as you wish - it's your party after all!   We have experience when it comes to reading the crowd and knowing what (or what not)  to play.  We are also open to accepting requests from your guests. We are flexible and have a wide selection of music, so that requests from your guests can be fulfilled. This is extremely crucial when searching for the perfect DJ because the DJ will be playing about 60-75 songs during your reception, and you want nothing but the best tunes to keep your dance floor crowded.   We'll adapt to any crowd and are well versed in all areas of music. We have the ability to dynamically read the crowd and adjust the mix of songs accordingly.

Do you come with an assistant?  99.9% of the time, we provide entertainment with one DJ.  Two DJs are usually unnecessary unless we are training a new employee.

Do you have experience with the type of function I am having?   This may be your first wedding, but it shouldn't be your DJ's! Your DJ should be able to act as the Master of Ceremonies, provide pre-event planning and coordinate with the other professionals to make sure that the event runs smoothly from start to finish.  Central MN DJ Co. is happy to provide that for you.  You can relax and trust our professionals to deliver quality entertainment on your special day.

If I wanted the DJ to do some overtime would that be possible?  It's 99.9% always possible to contract additional time. An exception might be a facility conflict (i.e. reception site not allowing music after a certain time).  The extension rate is $35 per half hour.

What is the length of each set? How many breaks do they take?  We do not take any breaks during the contracted time, except maybe to grab a quick restroom break. We never let the music stop.

How much time will you need to set up?  We need approximately an hour to load in our gear and get everything set-up before the start of the performance. If possible we like to arrive before any of the guests do so that it all looks and sounds perfect when everyone gets there. This may not be possible in every case, but we'll try.   After the performance it takes us around 45 minutes to get everything packed up and loaded so we can hit the road.  You do not pay for set up/take down.

Will I be able to get references for the DJ that will be doing my wedding?   When we mail you an info pack,  it will include recent customer feedback that  is loaded  with comments from actual customers.   We also have a section of our website devoted to customer feedback.

Why should I choose a disc jockey service over a live band?  There is a reason why DJs are fast becoming the music option of choice.  DJs can provide more variety than a band, they give you the original version of a song, and they're less expensive.

How much interaction will your DJ provide at my event?  Some events require a heavy interaction, while others like to have a DJ that will just remain in the background.  Most prefer somewhere between  a moderate personality (also described as a master of ceremonies) and heavy interaction.  The type of personality should be your choice. The best thing to do is tell our company what you want.   Always feel free to be as specific as possible regarding what you want.  We provide a space on the info sheet for you to state your preference.

Are there any possible extras - either in lighting, etc. or costs? What about mileage?  There are no hidden costs, no confusing upgrades. There is currently no tax on our service and we don't charge any hidden fees.  Depending upon the location of your event, mileage may be charged and should be discussed at the time of contract.   We also recently added a top of the line dvd projector and display screen to our collection should you choose to have a slide show.   Your DJ will take care of the set up, sound, presentation, and take down of your show - all you do is provide the dvd!   Please inquire about the current rate for this option .   We do encourage you to consider tipping your DJ if you feel that he does a good job, but it is not required or expected.   If you decide that you want to add time to your event, the extension rate is $70 per hour.   When comparing prices among DJ companies, be sure to count "extras" like dinner/cocktail music, lights and wireless microphones - all are included in our price (available within the 4 or 6 hours that you book us).  During the dinner music, our sound system and microphone will be available for toasts, speeches, prayers, announcements, or whatever you want to say to capture the attention of your guests, at no additional charge.   Remember, "good entertainment isn't cheap, and cheap entertainment isn't good."

Do you use a written agreement?  Absolutely.   When we mail out your info pack, it will include information about our company, an info sheet for you to fill out, as well as a sample listing of our song list, customer feedback, and an agreement form.

Is a deposit required?  We operate on a first come - first served basis.  A deposit of at least $150 and the signed agreement form  are required to hold your date.  As soon as those are received, we will reserve your special day for you.  The deposit is non-refundable and is applied toward your final balance.

May I make partial payments?  Definitely - whatever is most convenient for you.  You may send payments along the way toward your balance or make a payment in full the week or day of.

Is gratuity included in the price?  We do encourage you to consider tipping your DJ if you feel that he does a good job; it is not included in entertainment costs.

What type of equipment do you use?   You may not know much about the equipment, but you should know if your disc jockey is using today's professional technology.  You are paying money  for a professional and they should have brand-new-looking, top of the line, quality equipment and know how it operates.  Make sure it's pro equipment, not home stereo or consumer grade. (There is a difference!) You want to hire someone who takes their job seriously, so make sure they have made the investment in quality equipment.  Ask if they own their gear themselves or rent it.  If it's their own, chances are it will be looked after better and they will know how to fix any problems that could arise.   Central MN DJ Co. uses the industry’s most up-to-date professional DJ equipment by the top manufacturers. In fact, much of the equipment we use is the same stuff you would find in the world’s finest nightclubs and on-tour with the biggest touring sound companies. We use all digital CD technology  and all of our equipment is housed in professional road cases for neatness & protection. View Setup
